At La Rhone our aim is to produce quality, not quantity.  We strive to breed medium framed animals with good conformation, excellent temperament, good ebv’s and adequate milk.  Selective mating is done by careful consideration of every animal’s stronger and weaker points.

Sires being used recently include:

FN 0210 VERGESIGTE  DAUPHIN.  National bull calf champion 2003.  His first crop rocked the country by dominating the junior male and female classes at the 2007 National Show.  His progeny is currently in high demand due to the exceptional standard of both males and females.  One of his daughters, La Rhone Fudge LR064 sold for R67 500 to Dr Friedel Mulke of George at our 2008 Spring Sale.

LR0410  LA RHONE DODGE.  With his first calves almost 2 years old, he has proven his breeding potential to be as good as himself.  We are really excited to expose his offspring at the National Show 2010.

LR0653  LA RHONE 4X4 (Navire MN x MR9614, who also bred the MR0147).  Being a combination of new and proven genetics, this Navire son out of one of the best cows in the industry already has his first crop on the ground and is currently been used on a selected group of cows.  He shows a lot of masculinity, capacity and absolute beauty.

AI BULLS

SAUVIGNON :  His show and breeding record in Europe speak for itself.  Currently rated as one of the best bulls in the world, we are really proud and excited about his first crop already on the ground.

PATOCLE :  With Dauphin being the most prominent sire in top herds all over the world, we invested in one of his greatest sons ever, Patocle.  The beef capacity and exceptional milk ability of his daughters will take our high standard female herd to the top.  His first offspring is expected in January 2010.

Navire, Hauteclair, Mas du Clo, DK0343, IC9844 and Louxor also form part of our AI program.

FEMALES :  Our females were carefully selected and speak for themselves.  They are typical with good milk ability and have to deliver and raise an above average calf annually.  Good udders, temperament and hair quality are also taken into consideration when selecting top females from other leading breeders.
